Family Math Playbook

The Family Math Playbook is a practical guide designed to help schools, districts, and organizations build, strengthen, and sustain family math initiatives. Whether you are an educator, school or district leader, family engagement professional, or parent leader, the Playbook provides the frameworks, tools, examples, and resources needed to embed family math into ongoing programming, organizational practices, and institutional structures.

The goal of the Family Math Playbook is to build shared understanding, strengthen organizational capacity, and guide strategic action so that family math becomes a meaningful and sustainable part of how organizations support children’s mathematical learning and confidence.

Organized around twelve interconnected domains across four stages of organizational growth, the Playbook helps organizations assess where they are in their family math journey, identify opportunities for growth, and plan their next steps:

  • Reflect and Plan
  • Connect and Build Capacity
  • Design, Implement, and Collaborate
  • Lead, Learn, and Sustain

No matter where your organization is on its family math journey, the Family Math Playbook offers practical guidance to help you create lasting systems that position families as essential partners in children’s mathematical success.
