Second Day for the Older Group

After splitting into two groups, we began a series of activities.  First, Dani showed us how to use GeoGebra more extensively than yesterday.  Then, Kendall Carpenter came in and taught us about sailboat navigation.  After sharing stories about sailing, he taught us some terms, and led an exercise on how to calculate speed, distance, and time based on the relationship between them.  Next, another adult, Paul Anderson, came in and educated us about Google Sketchup.  For those who don't know, this is a program designed for making 3-D models.  He showed us how to use certain tools on it, and showed us how to make a simple house and castle.  Afterwards, we all downloaded it and did some individual designing.  Next, we went out for lunch.  Larry led some people on a nature walk, and the rest of us went back inside to work for the rest of the day.  All in all, it was a fun and productive day.

first day for the 10 unders (by reporter thea clarkberg)

First when we separated we started by drawing games such as drawing vertical and horizontal lines, drawing circles, and scribbling till you come to some one else's scribbling. Then we did scratch and most of us made the scratch cat draw rainbow lines all over the stage. After that we had lunch and some of us with our arms and bodies as fingers, we did witch's broom and attempted cats cradle. It has been a very mathy and exciting day.

First day fun

So for the first day we started out hearing about family math and then the older group worked with the program called geogebra we made A cat move! learned about perspectibs. we then broke for lunch where we made A large cats cradle out of several people, then we came back inside for the end of the day.
