Call for Awesome Math Activities
Family Math Fair 10am to 1pm Saturday November 7
For the last several years Family Math and Ithaca College have put on a twice-yearly math fair. We set up about a dozen tables on the third floor of Williams hall and we have presentations in three or four computer labs. In the past the tables have had activities such as origami, tessellation, the Tower of Hanoi puzzle, a lesson on infinity etc. The computer labs have hosted workshops on Lego robotics, the SeeLogo mathematical drawing software and Scratch, the programming language for kids. We advertise the fair in the local elementary schools and we usually have a turnout of several hundred kids age 6 to 12.
